Version 1.0.3.2 Release Notes

We’ve just released the latest version, which contains numerous UI enhancements, new features, and bug fixes.

UI Enhancement Highlights

  • The dashboard has been updated to better reflect the commonly-used features of OnDialog.
  • The menus on the left-side of the page/template/microsite editors are now greyed out until they are available to be used.
  • Several parts of the system are notably faster

New Feature Highlights

  • Campaign Wizard - This wizard (shown on the Dashboard and also under “My Campaigns” in the “Manage” menu) guides you step-by-step through the normal workflow for setting up a landing page campaign. A screen recording demo will be available soon.
  • “No Template” Option - Now when you select the “No Template” option when creating a page, you start off with a blank slate. Great for users who like to customize every piece of the page.
  • Page Cloner - Many users have a designer who provides them with an HTML file, or have a web site that has the look-and-feel that they want to use. The Page Cloner makes a copy of an existing page to give users a jump start into editing their pages.

There are also several bugs that have been addressed, including a common bug related to pasting in content.

As always, we welcome your feedback!

The Fastest Way to Publish a Landing Page

Published by jonathan.hilgeman under Article

In under 40 seconds, you can log in, create and publish a simple page. Once you get to a point where you are creating and re-using things like forms and templates, then it’s a matter of adding another 10 or 15 seconds to find and double-click on the template and/or form that you want to use.

So here’s a 1-minute demonstration that shows how to create and publish a bare-bones page:

(For the detail-oriented visitors who are wondering about the discrepancy between “1 minute demo” and “40 seconds to create and publish” - the demo includes about 20 seconds of page preview and comments at the end.)

PURLs vs. OnDialog Secured PURLs

Published by jonathan.hilgeman under Article

I’m sure all of us have, at some point in our life, kept things in a personal locker with one of those combination locks. Now imagine if all it took to open your lock and gain access to all your things was to know your name. You probably wouldn’t buy that lock. ( At least I wouldn’t, and I don’t even have a very common last name! )

Landing page solutions today are only now starting to really understand the importance of using personalized URLs (PURLs). PURLs not only LOOK appealing, but they can let you pre-fill forms with personal information (from simple contact information to anything that can be stored in a CRM), and pre-filled forms offer dramatic increases in conversion rates!

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility
However, other landing page providers are not adequately protecting their customers’ customers. An ill-intentioned person could simply change the name in the PURL address to something more common, like John Smith, and instantly have access to someone else’s personal, sensitive data. Depending on the landing page, they might even be able to see credit card numbers, social security numbers, or other information that could lead directly to identity theft!
Vulnerable, Insecure PURL: OnDialog Secured PURL:
OnDialog Secured PURLs
Many of our customers have asked what that 4-letter/number code is in their PURLs. Well, it’s just one part of a 3-part combination lock (two parts are behind the scenes) that has literally trillions of possible combinations but only one right answer!
It ensures that ONLY the intended recipient of a PURL can visit their page. Anyone trying to change the name in a PURL will end up empty-handed and automatically be put into the first part of an a pro-active security process.
When You Need Alternatives
We also realize that sometimes those codes just aren’t convenient for non-email campaigns (e.g. direct mail), where you’re requiring people to type in a URL off of a postcard or letter. Part of our PURL solution allows you to set up a login page for your recipients so that you can keep the length of the PURL short and provide an easy-to-remember PIN number that will log a user into their page.
No matter how you choose to use PURLs, we have you and your customers covered.

Secured PURLs - just one of the many ways we’re improve emarketing!

Weekly Release Update

Published by jonathan.hilgeman under New Release

We were really hoping to get version 1.0.3 released this week, but there were too many changes to be able to fully satisfy our quality control’s requirements for a live release, so the release has been pushed back.

On a side note, the upcoming media manager will be well worth the wait! More to come - stay tuned.

Version 1.0.2.9 Release Notes

Published by jonathan.hilgeman under New Release, Patch

We’ve incremented the version number again today after we released some small-but-important bug fixes that were affecting a small group of users. The one that might affect some of you was regarding a link on the dashboard page. The link to the Export PURLs page was incorrect and has been corrected.

Working with Custom Objects in SFDC

Published by jonathan.hilgeman under Article

One of the new features of OnDialog LP is the ability to work with (insert into and update) custom objects inside Salesforce accounts. Since everyone has different custom objects, there’s a little bit of setup required on our end, but it works like a charm!

Here’s a quick screen recording that shows an account that we’ve set up with a custom “save process” that inserts a lead and then inserts a new “Sales Opportunity” record (our example custom object) for that lead:

Hello Community!

Published by Craig under Article

(”world” seems a bit pretentious).

We launched OnDialog LP 1.0 last week, and man are we busy :-) You may track our product development, maintenance and roadmap here as soon as I get a free hour to post.

Rather than wiki our product development status updates, we decided to blog it. Our product roadmap is primarily customer-driven, so we want feedback… on the current product in general, features you like, features you don’t like, features you want/need, etc. - even new products you need ;-).

We are SaaS (software-as-a-service: the fancy term for “on-demand”), and if you have had a chance to read other articles I’ve written then you know how seriously I/we take that responsibility… “Service” being the operative word. We consider SaaS more of a partnership model. There is tremendous shared value in us (you the customer and we the service provider) nurturing this relationship… we produce better product(s) and service(s), and you benefit directly and more timely from them. For our part, it’s a matter of listening to the market and our customers, embracing change and responding quickly and effectively. That is what Agile product development is all about, so we are in fact quite good at this. All we need is your input. A big part of my job is working out the priorities, schedules and details - I take what you give me and then drill-in where necessary to understand the value proposition of everything we do for everyone we service - it’s actually a lot of fun - getting it right for customers who care.

Please stop by here as often as you can to get updates on what we’re doing and provide feedback. We will take it to heart.
